Creative Academy

The Creative Academy is a not-for profit organisation which is managed through Slough Borough Council. The Creative Academy has been supported by the Department for Education in developing and creating a permanent home at the old Orchard Community Centre. The Creative Academy has successfully positioned its course as an affordable alternative to University and Vocational School dance training with a strong industry focus and a minimum of 30 contact hours of practical training a week. In 2016, Creative Academy became CDET accredited. The Ba (Hons) Dance (top up) and FdA Dance courses are validated by The University of West London (London College of Music) and is endorsed by the Council for Dance Education and Training and has approved centre status from Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.


The Creative Academy has strong links with industry and currently has 95% Graduates in employment or going onto Higher Education. Graduates have gone onto work for companies including Celebrity Cruises, Thompson Cruises, Peel Entertainment, TUI, Princess Cruises, Union Dance, Vogue, AVA Dance Company, perform with Mary J Bliege, Will.i.am and Rod Stewart and with representation from AMCK, Rudeye Dance Agency and Simon and How.
The Creative Academy currently works with AVA Dance Company, Ballet Boyz, DanceFusion, Dancers Inc., London College of Dance Network, London College of Music, Lost Dog Dance Company, Pilates Precision (Multi-Trax UK), Rambert Dance Company, Random Dance Company, Rifco Arts, Rudeye Dance Agency, StopGap Dance Company and Tavaziva Dance Company.
Creative Academy aims to create confident, knowledgeable, technically proficient, versatile, strong, independent, passionate and talented performers/teachers ready for the diverse dance industry by:

The Creative Academy has small class numbers to ensure students receive the individual attention required to understand and achieve in the diverse dance industry.
Entry requirements for FDA Year 1 - GCSE English C or above, successful audition & 75 UCAS points or above.  Entry for BA (HONS) top up Year 3 - GCSE English C or above, Successful audition & HND/FdA (240 University Credits) on a dance course.
The Creative Academy BA (HONS) Dance (Top Up) (this is a one year course which is completed after a Foundation degree) splits into 2 streams in year three - Dance and Dance Performance
The Dance Performance stream is offered with additional entry requirements. Students must have FdA at Merit or higher, ISTD Intermediate Modern Theatre and ISTD/RAD Intermediate Foundation Ballet - merit or above).
Students at Creative Academy now have access to a purpose built venue in the heart of Slough. This brand new venue opened on March 14th 2016 at 73a Stoke Poges Lane, Portsmouth Court, SLOUGH, SL1 3NY. It has five studios, student areas and a welfare office. We also have access to 'The Curve’. This is a brand new theatre and library just a short walk from the new home for the Creative Academy, funded by Slough Borough Council and the Department for Education.
